60 seconds with Aniket Chhatre

60 seconds with Aniket Chhatre

Jon Kuhrt21 Jun 2020 - 11:46

A big fan of Rahul Dravid & Andrew Flintoff...and Andy Poulton & Grant Braganza!

It is over 7 years since I left Croydon but still ACC memories are very fresh...winter nets, debut for 3rd XI, first 50, first hatrick...plus the post-match beers and banter!'
- Aniket Chhatre

Name: Aniket Chhatre

Nickname:
Some at ACC used to call me "Heineken". This was because before moving to Croydon, I lived in Amsterdam for a while and when someone at ACC asked me my name he heard it as Heineken.

It sort of became the easier name to remember me by!

How would you describe yourself as a player?
Medium pace swing bowler, second best #10 batsman. I noticed someone has claimed this first best number 10 spot :-)! (that was Charlie Forden)

Best cricket memory?
It is over 7 years since I left Croydon but still ACC memories are very fresh! Nets at Shirley school, debut game with the 3rd XI, a few games with 2s, my first 50, first hat-trick, first 5-for, catches taken and catches dropped - plus the post-match beers and banter!

I was given the new ball in a game for the 2s and getting a couple of early wickets in my very first over is probably the one of the best memories of many.

Most embarrassing cricketing moment? I showed up for my very first nets session at ACC and I forgot to bring my box... no chance I was batting then!

I was always embarrassed every time when I got out bowled out by a weak bowler. I used to feel I could play some shots but I was wrong and I was better of defending!

Favourite player/cricket hero? Rahul David if I have to pick one. He is a player who just does anything that is needed for the team. It took years for him to become a star.

Other players like Kapil Dev, Flintoff, KP, Lara you can watch anytime of the day.

At ACC, when I first saw Andy Poulton bat, or Grant Braganza bowing, I was very impressed and happy to have joined the club. We had some seriously talented guys in the club.

Favourite format to watch? Test Cricket - any day.

Best thing about Addiscombe CC? Awesome bunch of people to play, excellent facility and the great commitment from everyone involved
