Name: Andy Poulton
Nickname: Poults
How would you describe yourself as a player? Opening bat and a useful medium pacer
Best cricket memory? So many to mention… the five years as 1st XI captain, 2008-2012 are filled my great memories including three consecutive promotions bringing the club back from relegation from the Surrey Championship to where it is today. I was lucky to have led a great group and had brilliant support from Mike Rogers as Chairman at the time.
Most embarrassing cricketing moment? The numerous drop catches off Martyn Bain when keeping in the 2nd XI. It was never good dropping one off Bainy and even worse when you were 15. Scary moments but I suppose they taught me a thing or two!
Favourite player/cricket hero? My favourite player was Mike Atherton. But my real hero was Dale Cooper
Favourite format to watch? Can’t beat a good day in a Test match.
Best thing about Addiscombe CC? The history and the people. I had the pleasure of playing with many great players such as Brian Messom, Martyn Bain, Mike Rogers, Adnan Saleem, Richard Johnson, Matt Crocombe, Dale Cooper and Ben Cox to name a few. I can’t forget playing with Scotty Benham, hands down the funniest bloke I ever played with. He moves well for a big lad!
I spent my childhood and formative years at the club and it is very dear to me and my family. I now live in Canada with my wife and children and its only when you are away that you realise what the club gave me. It played a pivotal part of my life and I will always be grateful for the memories.
