Name: Dan Lineker
Nickname: DL
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Hard-hitting left handed batsman!
How long played at ACC?
20 years playing (this makes me feel old) but I grew up around the club as my Dad, Barry Lineker, has played for ACC for years.
Best cricketing memory?
Back in 2015, we chased 281 off 50 overs. I scored 65 not out and hit the winning runs.
Most embarrassing moment on pitch?
Getting cleaned up first ball of a game. It was there to be hit!
If you could be any player who would it be?
Joe Root- scores runs for fun and makes it look easy!
Favourite format?
Test cricket for sure
There is 1 over left and the oppo need 14 runs to win. Two Bowlers still have overs to bowl, you and your Dad. Who do you pick?
Have you seen last year’s final over classic finish at Sanderstead?! I am the man for the job!
(Ed: Watch the dramatic end to this match on Youtube - go to 25:57 to see the ending - its worth it! PS: his Dad bowled the over before)
Predictions for ACC 2022 season?
Promotion is what I’m aiming for!
Why is ACC a good club to join?
Friendly people who enjoy the bar area.
Tell us more about your job?
I work for The Change Foundation is a charity that uses sports to help disadvantaged young people. We have been going for 40 years and cricket is part of our DNA. I run the Refugee Cricket Project, where we help young asylum seekers enjoy the game and develop themselves as people. Through this, I have introduced a number of young Afghanistan players into ACC.
