60 second New Player Profile: Ewan Macmillan

Jon Kuhrt13 Mar 2020 - 22:30

ACC's new signings for 2020: Meet Ewan, a leg-spinning all-rounder from north of the border (via Sussex!)

'I love scoring runs when the opposition think they are better than you and you whack them around the park'
- Ewan Macmillan

Name - Ewan Macmillan

Nickname To Be Confirmed
(editor: one of our younger members was calling Ewan 'Scot guy' all evening at nets this week. Other options could be Braveheart, Proclaimer...)

How would you describe yourself as a player? I am an All-rounder which basically means I can't bat, I can't bowl and I can't field! But I am always give it everything for the team.

Best cricket memory? Any time that I am scoring runs whilst the opposition are frustrated and mouthing off… especially against those who big themselves up “I play for the county” etc. I love it when they think they are better than you and then you whack them around the park.

Most embarrassing cricketing moment? I have plenty, but to name one… Last season, whilst playing in deepest darkest Sussex, our player/umpire twice didn’t give someone out stumped. It led to the opposition wicket-keeper calling him a cheat (and other ruder words). I am not known for backing down so I started to shout from the sidelines defending our umpire and it all kicked off a bit.

Next thing I know my own captain is telling me to calm down and be quiet - so that told me. A bit later I had to go out to bat and as I did I had a bit of further chat with their keeper. I then proceeded to promptly get a big, fat, zero. It was not a great day for me.

Favourite player/cricket hero? – Jimmy Anderson for his longevity and the fact he’s still able to come up with the goods virtually every time he plays.

Favourite format to watch? A Test Match (I also like to listen to TMS whilst at work)

What are you most looking forward to in the 2020 season? I am looking forward to playing with a great new club and all the social side that comes with it!

We have had a great response with almost all players downloading the ACC Club App and availability already being posted for the matches.

Also, we have a new Code of Conduct which we would like all players, new and existing, to be aware of. Please update your membership details and tick that you have read it.

If you like the look of Ewan's 'Baggy Maroon' then check out the ACC online shop for our official match and practice kit.

Also remember our Player Registration Day on 5th April at Sandilands. If you are coming please indicate on the web or App.
